A study in the journal Nutrition Review demonstrated that increasing fiber intake can lead to weight reduction over a period of 4 pounds in 4 months. Beside the beneficial effect of fiber on IBS, other positives include lowered absorption of sugar, reduction of insulin levels, and lowered cholesterol and triglycerides.
